After I install ethereal 0.9.8 and winpcap 2.3 on my platform window xp it
prompt up this message when I try to start capture. 

“The capture session couldn’t be intiated.(Error opening adapter. The
system couldn’t find the file specified.)

Please check that you have the proper interface specified.

Note that the driver Ethereal use for packet capture on window doesn’t
support capturing WAN/PPP interface in window 2000/xp/.net server.”

I don’t know if the ethereal and winPcap I download was right for my
operating system window xp made my SONY.  I also try download ethereal 9.14

and winpcap 3-01a and try to run after I stall it. It didn’t seem to work
as well such that it didn’t capture anything or display anything….Like Guy
Harris say it  should be able to capture everything without restricted the
filter, but it didn’t work at all…I only saw the screen blank as it start
with….I really need all the help I could get to get the ethereal run in my
pc so I could get my project done……I need any suggestion you might have for

me….
