point me to any resources?

There is some documentation in the /doc/ directory of the Ethereal
source code http://www.ethereal.com/download.html#sources
Especially README.developer and README.plugins.

Then it's also good to have a look on the source code of the plugins in
the sub-directories of the /plugins/ directory (pcli, megaco etc.) and
on the other dissectors packet-XXXX.c, since there isn't so much
differences between writing a normal dissector and a plugin-dissector.

Ethereal Version 0.9.12, Windows XP, Compaq notebook.

AIM dissector - doesn't display the last character of
the screen name in the packet decode (top window).

Example: packet which includes the screen name
"jonny123" in the AIM data. The packet decode in the
top window shows "jonny12"

This worked OK in version 0.9.11. Could be related to
the "off-by-one" fixes mentioned in the release notes?

Thanks,
CC

Yes. A fix has been checked in, and it will appear in the next release.
