Is it possible for you to test it on GbE with higher load?
It would be interesting to see real numbers of single CPU linux kernel
+ good GbE card and what it can take before it starts loosing packets.
In the test you did previously that showed 60-88Mbit/s
(~20-30% higher throughput than with winxp)
what was the cpu utilization during this test?
Can you test it without capturing anything and measure cpu load to get a
baseline
and then once again with tcpdump or tethereal running to see the difference
in
cpuload?
