I was recently introduced to the Ethereal-setup-0.9.4.exe and WinPcap 2.3
combination. However, to be able to capture an interface must be defined.

MY SYSTEM:
Windows 2000 server SP2

The CAPTURE/START menu option brings up a window to define my capture but
the only thing in my Interface: section is a ":" . Reading your FAQ page I
found a couple of entries about the same type thing but none of those fixes
work. How do I define an interface?

ERROR:
The capture session could not be initiated (Error opening adapter:
Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.).
Please check that you have the proper interface specified.

Note that the driver Ethereal uses for packet capture on Windows
doesn't support capturing on PPP/WAN interfaces in Windows NT/2000

1. My NIC is a "3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC
(3C905C-TX)"
2. This is the first time Ethereal and WinPcap have been installed.
3. I have attempted rebooting.
4. I have attempted it within Network and Local Administrator logons.
5. I have given myself admin rights.

Is there something else I can try?

Thanks

Jeffrey
