True enough. I assumed he had the IP. That may have been a bad assumption.
That's kind of why I mentioned ARP/RARP. I think there may be a utility for
RARP; I thought I've seen something with it, though I can't remember
specifically right now. I'll try to take a look around in a bit and let
everyone know if I find something.

RARP, in particular - ARP requests are for getting MAC addresses given
IP addresses.  I don't know if there are any commands for Windows (or
UNIX, for that matter) that'll send out a RARP request).

If he wants to resolve a MAC address to an IP address because he knows
the MAC address, doesn't know the IP address, but wants to know the IP
address, pinging the box might be a bit difficult....
