Hello
First of all, thank you for your help. :)

Ok, that sounds much better. ;-)
Unfortunately, still two problems with that:
The README.developer mentions a README.plugins file
about how to pluginize dissector modules. (I only glanced over
the rest of README.developer, so maybe I just missed something.)
Well, the problem is that there is no README.plugins file in
ethereal-0_8_19_tar.gz. May I get this file somewhere else?
The second problem is that I'm using Ethereal under Win95/98.
Although two plugin "dll"s are in the plugins subdirectory
(gryphon, mgcp), Ethereal does not show them in the
"Plugin List" window. I copied them both to the plugins
directory as well as to the plugins/0.8.19 directory,
where they were per default, but they still do not show up in Ethereal.

Ok, no problem. I simply didn't realize earlier that the file format
of libpcap is that simple. I've written a simple decoder for
that file format and together with the sorting/filtering
capabilities of Ethereal, everything is just fine for my purposes.
Btw.: What's about setting up newsgroups for Etheral,
instead of mailing lists? Wouldn't that be much easier?
Just a suggestion. I was thinking about how many people
before me have asked the same questions, and you
are asked them over and over again. (?)
Best,
Carsten
