I have an addition for the wish list:
Information I need
When analyzing IS-IS problems e.g on transport level, we would like to know
the stability of the network before the event (e.g. in case of disconnect
request on transp. Level).
As LSP's give a fair overview on the stability, and they are send every 15
minutes, we need the information of about 20 minutes prior to the event. As
the frequency of the problems can be as low as once or twice per week, it
would be practically impossible to capture/analyze all data over that
period.
Addition to wish list requested
In order to accommodate the description above I would like a FIFO buffer of
a configurable timeframe. This buffer will purge older captured packets than
defined in the configured timeframe IF the capture trigger has not been
activated. If triggered, the buffer is kept and packet capturing will
continue (for a configurable time or number of frames). The trigger for
this process would be a match to a pre-selected filter string. When the
process above can be written to disk it would furthermore be possible to
make this process repetitive to capture multiple events of the same kind.
