This is not a problem with your cable modem. It's a problem with your game.
Your cable modem ddoesn't determine what protocol you use...

...UNLESS your cable provider has decided to filter out the TCP port that
your game uses.

Use nmap to do a port scan of your game server and look for the TCP port
that you normally use. If you see "filtered" come back, your provider (or
the game server's provider) is filtering that port.

If you see "closed", then it's not being filtered, but the game server is
not accepting TCP connections.

If you see "open", then it ought to work, and you just need to reconfigure
your game.

Subject: [Ethereal-users] help with UDP and TCP

Hello, I'm having a problem with my cable modem, can you help me please?

I have cable modem from Road Runner and when I play games online it was
fine connecting to other servers on TCP, but suddenly it connects to
servers on UDP ports and is slowing down game play and even web browsing
experience. How do I get the modem back to TCP?
