THANKS for such a quick response!!

I have actually put the "sniffer" machine (the one running
ethereal) on a hub where I had the "a" machine plugged in also -
and only then the hub plugged into a switch port (and no - that's all
I have in the path - so I am not breaking the 3-4-5 rule anywhere on
the path to either "b" or "c") ...

The more so (apologies for having failed to clarify that in my
initial post), with the above setup, I can see traffic when the filter is:

host a and b

as well as (obviously, now) when it is:

host a and c

but no traffic a<->b (!!), but only a<->c when filter is:

host a and (b or c) ... which may me doubt the syntax ?!?

Quite puzzling ... I know ...

Thanks again for help ... any other ideas?,
	Stef
