In particular, if you have a capture file, you can use the non-capture
version of Ethereal on any Win32 system that also has GTK+ and GLib
installed (they can be installed in the same directory as Ethereal - in
fact, if those libraries aren't in your path, Ethereal works better if
they're in the same directory as it), *regardless* of whether you've
installed the driver and libraries Ethereal needs in order to capture
packets.

If, for example, you already have a program on your machine that can
capture packets, but it doesn't do as good a job as Ethereal at
dissecting some particular protocol, and Ethereal can read its capture
files, you could use Ethereal to look at that particular protocol.
