Hi all,
I've got a problem - and I'm hopefully alone. Anyway, I installed Ethereal
on a Win95 machine, but when trying to start it, I get an error message
telling me Ethereal is trying to link to a PacketSetReadTimeout export
function in packet.dll, but it can't find the function (or alike (it's a
Finnish version of Win95, so translation might lose some significant ).
First when I got this error I had WinPcap v. 2.01 installed. Then I
installed v. 2.02 (yes, booted a million times), but with no progress. Some
other sniffers I installed too, all using WinPcap, seem to give the same
error and not to start.
I had an older version of WinDump that worked, but now that I installed
the newest one, it gives the same error.
I read from the WinPcap installation instructions, that installing the
capture driver from the files from Packet95.exe should install a protocol
called "BPF Packet capture Driver for Win95/98 v X.XX." Well, I only get a
"Network Packet Driver for Win95/98 v 2.02." So this really isn't the same
thing, is it?
I downloaded the Packet95.exe from the datanerds.net/~mike mirror of
netgroup-serv.polito.it for I couldn't get to netgroup-serv.polito.it.
After realizing I've started all the paragaphs with "I", I'd better end
this complaint.
Help would be greatly apriciated, so if you have a solution, put it on the
list or, even better, email me.
 Antti
