You can access the download area via HTTP, too:
http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/
Which package depends on what you want to do.
If you want pre-built binaries for your OS, look at:
http://www.ethereal.com/download.html#binaries
If you want pre-built binaries for Win32, then you get to choose
between a capture version and a non-capture version. The capture version
lets you capture packets from your network interface, but requires the
installation of a driver (it's all detailed in the README.win32 file, also
available at http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/win32/win32-README.txt )
The non-capture version, like the capture version, lets you read traces
made by other sniffers.
If you want to build from source, download the *.tar.gz of source code.
You can get support on this mailing list, but be sure to supply useful
information like what operating system you're using. As far as phone support
goes, I don't know of anyone doing that, but there are several freelance
contractors on ethereal-dev, and maybe on ethereal-users, that might be willing
to help you for a price. Remember, this is free software, and we're all
volunteering our free time to work on and support Ethereal, so it's a little
much to ask for free, personal, over-the-phone assistance.
