Just start playing with Ethereal 0.8.10 at customer sites.  When Ethereal is
recording, it'll stop recording sometimes when a Windows client is copying a
large file to the server.  It doesn't hang for anything else except for SMB
file copying.   To restart Ethereal to monitoring, I have to close Ethereal
and /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart and the all is well again - well until
the next big file copy.
