It's a bug in libpcap, not in Ethereal (and has affected applications
other than Ethereal), and it's not clear Ethereal can do anything to
work around it.

There's a fix checked into the CVS tree for libpcap, but

	1) the release in which it'll appear isn't out yet (for that
	   matter, the release *before* the one in which it'll appear
	   isn't out yet)

and

	2) the version currently in the tree causes a panic if you have
	   a really really really old version of Flex - which somebody
	   actually had, with what I hope is an old version of
	   Slackware (I've sent in a fix to that panic, although it's
	   probably not checked in yet).
