Ethereal does a DNS lookup when opening a capture file. Maybe you should
turn off the resolving of hostnames when you use Ethereal. If it is
still slower than on the mandrake 6.1 machine, write another message to the
mailinglist. (I guess that on your suse 6.3 machine the Internet connection is
much slower (or you can't reach the appropriate nameservers))
