...which, of course, doesn't include the ones we already have. :-) 
(That was one of the *non*-hair-splitting points I was making -
highlighting, in the hex display window, stuff that's selected in the
detail window isn't something we need to pick up, as we already do
that.)

I'm willing to steal ideas from anything - the GUI capture program I've
used is Microsoft's Network Monitor, and I've borrowed ideas from it. 
NetXRay, Sniffer Classic, Network Monitor, etc., are *all* worth
examining.  That's why I said that being able to, when we add a GUI for
constructing filters, say "check for packets where the field I've
selected in the detail window has the same value as it has in the
current packet" - which I infer you were saying NetXRay could do - would
be something to consider.
