Hi,
I am trying to install ethereal and had the following problem::

checking for gtk-config... /usr/local/bin/
checking for GTK - version >= 1.0.0... ./configure: /usr/local/bin/: is
a directory
./configure: /usr/local/bin/: is a directory
./configure: /usr/local/bin/: is a directory
./configure: /usr/local/bin/: is a directory
./configure: /usr/local/bin/: is a directory
no
*** Could not run GTK test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log
for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK was incorrectly
installed
*** or that you have moved GTK since it was installed. In the latter
case, you
*** may want to edit the gtk-config script: /usr/local/bin/
configure: error: GTK+ distribution not found.

I do not know why this is happening..this is what I have in
/etc/ld.so.conf

/usr/lib
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/local/lib

I also do a ldconfig after that..

I also set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to be /usr/local/lib

I do not see why I am unable to get this to get configured..

any help is appreciated..
