No, GTK+ 1.0.6 built fine here on Solaris 2.5.1.

It looks as if those "_Xmbstowcs" is called only if "X_LOCALE" is
defined, and the "configure" script determines whether to define it. 
Unfortunately, I don't know why, when you ran it, it decided that
X_LOCALE needed to be defined on Solaris 2.5.1 - it didn't decide that
here.

You might want to ask the GTK+ folk about this.  Check to see if there's
anything on the GTK Web site, at

	http://www.gtk.org/

about it - there's an archive of the "gtk-list" mailing list on that
site.  If you don't find anything, you might ask "gtk-list" about it.
