Can we please add something like "Better support for OpenBSD" or even "OpenBSD binaries on our site"? I do not use OpenBSD, but I have friends who do and they often complain to me about the difficulty of getting Ethereal working.

Solving that would either require

1) a working OpenBSD system on which to test (I don't have one, although perhaps plugging my Inspiron 8000 into an Ethernet, or using a different 802.11 card, would fix that)

or

	2) a sufficiently-good description of the problems.

One had a problem recently with the number of open files required, for example. He said he had to up his quota from 128 (he set it at 512) in order to get Ethereal to start.

To *start*? I.e., even without *doing* anything in Ethereal - not opening a file, not starting a capture, not anything - he had to raise his file descriptor limit to get it just to pop up the main window?

If it requires more than 128 file descriptors, that's a bug somewhere, whether it's in Ethereal or some library Ethereal's using.

I set my limit down to 128 on OS X and Ethereal started up fine.
