Hi List,

This concerns the long time Win32 users among us.
If you've once installed Ethereal a long time ago (like in the 0.10.6
aera) and updated it time and time again without whiping your preferences
you should have a look at the preferences of the SNMP dissector.
I bet it says something like the following
IP-MIB:IF-MIB:TCP-MIB:UDP-MIB:SNMPv2-MIB:RFC1213-MIB:UCD-SNMP-MIB

Now look at the information presented when pointing at the text box
containing the list of MIBS. It says it needs colons on Unix machines and
semicolons on Windows machines. On the newer prestine installs this is
correctly handled by the dissector, setting the correct peferences. But if
they are inherited from before the still have the colon-seperated list.
This will never change, hence never work, unless the user edits this
by hand.

Shouldn't the SNMP dissector substitute the colon by a semicolon on the
Win32 platform so that the translations work and a save fixes the
preferences file?

Thanx,
Jaap
