After more than two years of hard work, the final version of WinPcap 3.1 is
available from today in the download section of the WinPcap website,

This new release represents an important milestone for the project: major
improvements and bug fixes have been carried out during this long period of time, and the result is the most stable and reliable version of WinPcap in
its history. Thanks to all the users that contributed to this result by
submitting bug reports and thoroughly testing the several betas that were

Hi Gianluca!

Thanks for the info and all the WinPcap teams effort in bringing WinPcap to such a valuable and useful point!

I love to see this release happen, as the current situation recommending the WinPcap 3.1 beta 4 release to our users wasn't really satisfactory.

I'm going to include this 3.1 release installer into the Ethereal Windows installer as soon as possible, probably already this weekend.

So it will be included in the next Ethereal release as soon as it may come.

BTW: May I suggest a slightly faster release cycle (you're not competing with debian don't you?) ;-)

I know that there were some substantial changes in the WinPcap team so I really understand the cause.

Again, thank you and the whole WinPcap team, making Ethereal (and many other programs) possible on the Windows platform.

Regards, ULFL
