Hi,

Take a look in the file README.win32(in the top dir of ethereal) there is some instructions about Cygwin there, I haven't tried it myself so I've got no idea how difficult it is to get it working.
Best regards
Anders

I'm guessing, but I think you still need to download all the necessary libraries/binaries in order to build Ethereal. Since you're not using MSVC, you can't simply run "nmake -f makefile.nmake setup" in order to download & extract them all, so you'll have to download each individually. It is unclear from the repositories as to which ones you will need exactly, but if you were able to run "nmake -f makefile.nmake setup", you would get the following zip's downloaded to C:\ethereal-win32-libs\:

ZIP EXTRACT TO C:\ethereal-win32-libs\
----------------------------------------------------------------
adns-1.0-win32-04.zip adns-1.0-win32-04\
atk-1.6.0.zip gtk2\
atk-dev-1.6.0.zip gtk2\
gettext-runtime-0.13.1.zip gettext-runtime-0.13.1\
glib-2.4.7.zip glib\
glib-dev-2.4.7.zip glib\
gtk+-1.3.0-20030717.zip gtk+\
gtk+-2.4.14.zip gtk2\
gtk+-dev-1.3.0-20030115.zip gtk+\
gtk+-dev-2.4.14.zip gtk2\
gtk-wimp-0.6.2-bin.zip gtk-wimp\
libiconv-1.9.1.bin.woe32.zip libiconv-1.9.bin.woe32\
net-snmp-5.1.2.zip net-snmp-5.1.2\
pango-1.4.1.zip gtk2\
pango-dev-1.4.1.zip gtk2\
pcre-4.4.zip pcre-4.4\
wpdpack_3_0.zip wpdpack\
zlib122-dll.zip zlib122-dll\

I've also attached two "tree" listings of my directory - one showing just the directories, and the other showing all of the files, just in case there's any confusion as to what should be extracted where. After you're done extracting, you can run the "tree" command against your environment and diff it against mine to verify that everything is where it should be.

See http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/win32/development/ for the binaries/libraries to download and for more information.

.... or I've guessed wrong and you have some other issue entirely :)
