That's one of the disadvantages of the SourceForge bug system - it's the main one used for tcpdump and libpcap (there's a "patches" mailing list for patches, but I don't follow it any more, as it's 99.99999999999999% spam), and a number of bugs are anonymous, so if I ask a question by adding a comment to the bug, the person filing the bug doesn't see it unless they go back and check it.
