I don't meant that you should change the makefile that way, but if one want to achieve this, he could simply achieve it that way ...

The disadvantage is: This way you have two html entry points in the package (index.html and user-guide.html) beside a lot of other html files. This is a VERY bad idea in terms of usability, as the user has to search which html page to open and confronted with both index.html and user-guide.html, that's simply unintuitive.

PLEASE have a look at the current downloadable packages, before tumbling around these things. The packaging I've choosen were not by accident, but as a result of thought what user's might want to download, and what formats other projects usually make available for download.

You seem to forget people downloading the zip file(s) and use them for offline reading. Just like everything else, *using* the guide should be as easy as ever possible, just remember that it is a "User's Guide".

I've just tried your patch and it worked as expected, except for the things described above.

Please test the current version. It it's not ok, let me know what to
fix, otherwise just check it in.
