This has been discussed before and resulted in a thread about replacing
CVS with "something better", e.g. Subversion (subversion.tigris.org).

Now that the Samba project has switched to Subversion
(http://www.samba.org/samba/subversion.html), shouldn't this eliminate
most of our former concerns?
