Guy,

OK, so i have to build a gtk2 environment. I downloaded and
installed (there where a lot of warnings but it worked possibly)
pkgconfig-0.15.0, gettext-0.1.4.1 atk-1.0.3 pango-1.3.6 and glib-2.3.4.

So now I have to install gtk+-2.3.6:
Trying to run
./configure --without-libpng --without-libjpeg --without-libtiff
results in
configure: error: Pango 1.2.0 and Xft backend is required for x11 target

Do I have to use the older version of Pango (I have installed 1.3.6
which was detected)? I do not know about Xft. i have installed the
Apple X11 stuff.

What did you do to get this compiled?

Best regards
Michael

building the dynamic libs version does not work on Mac OS X 10.3.2

If this is fixed, the default under Mac OS X should be --disable-shared
unless you use gtk2.

Unfortunately, I've been unable to get that to work, and I don't think
it can be made to work - I think Ethereal on Mac OS X is now GTK2-only.

I'm trying to install gtk2, but this requires a lot of other things...

Yes, you have to install a lot of other stuff, but it *can* be done.
