Checkins that check files into more than one directory seem to cause CVS
crashes on the server.  The patch in question did check changes into
more than one directory - but

	1) another file in the "gtk" directory ("gtk/main.c") *did* get
	   checked in

and

	2) there were lock files for Richard left around in the CVS
	   tree, but there were lock files for directories that
	   *weren't* affected by that checkin (but were affected by
	   another multi-directory checkin he made)

so I'm not sure what happened there.
