Dear Ladies and Sirs,

within Ethereal 0.9.12, the ntp dissector does not show the NTP protocol
version (V3 or V4) flags,

The following flags were not decoded and displayed:
LI - Leap Warning Indicator
VN - NTP protokoll Version Number
MODE - NTP mode

I noticed this effect as I was investigating a NTP problem, which was a
protocol version problem between NTP V3 server and NTP V4 client as described in
http://www.ntp.org/ntpfaq/NTP-s-trouble.htm#S-TRBL-SPEC-TRUETIME

Latelay I noticed that it is a V4 problem, because ethereal did not show the
version and I missed the idea... ;-)

I saw in the source-code of "packet-ntp.c" that all flags are defined,
but did not find the special decoce lines.
After building ethereal on HP-UX11, Sol.8 and Linux on none of these
platforms the LI, VN or MODE flasg were decoded.

I can provide sample traces from HP-UX11, Sol.8 and Linux if wanted.

I would like to ask who is responsible for the "packet-ntp.c" and if this
person is willing to add the LI, VN and MODE flags to the decode.
With real interop. problems, these flags are the most important
informations.. ;-)

With thanks & regards F.
