These are three versions of the same tool. When DEC decided to create a
TCP/IP stack, they called it Ultrix Connection (UCX). When planning
version 5.0, they decided that since Ultrix was no longer supported
(having been replaced by Digital Unix, which was replaced by True-64
Unix), that they would change the name to TCPIP. Most of the occurrences
of UCX have disappeared.
So, they renamed "UCX$TRACE" to "TCPIPTRACE" to "TCPTRACE".
This is all the same tool.
They are considering creating a version with binary output, but as far as
I know, that is not set in stone yet.
I will send you some output from one of the later tools this evening. I
will ask an engineer to send more samples soon.
I am not currently working on VMS, so I am limited in what I can
do or test.
