Can I assume you are looking for an NLM based utility? Attached is such a free tool. This was created by one of the developers as Volera. It is not supported but can easily give you NLM based captures that you could later analyze from a workstation running Ethereal.

Hi !

I am new to Ethereal and I would like to know
whether it is possible to do Layer-3 and above
logging using Ethereal.

ie Can I log packets and read those captured
packets without having a MAC Ethernet header.

Please don't spit back saying that the question
is non-sensical.

Mainly I am interested in having Ethereal on
NetWare. Strangely enough NetWare doesn't provide
any mechanisms to see the MAC Header of a
transmitted packet.

Also is there an Netware port of Ethereal or
do you know of anyone working on a possible port.

Here are the instructions I have conjured up that I will send to my customers when I want them to use this utility.

a. Create the following directory structure: SYS\rdb\outbox
b. Copy PKTSCAN to your SYS:\SYSTEM directory
c. At the server console, type

PKTSCAN

d. Hit F2 to start the trace
e. Duplicate the process we want to capture
f. Hit F2 to stop the trace
g. Hit F4 to save the trace. Give the captured file a name. Hit ENTER.
h. Hit ESC to exit the utility.
i. Email the file to me.

Another alternative to netmon.nlm. This utility also loads at the NetWare server but will not expire. Also this utility was written by our coworkers at Volera...
