Hello Tara,
What you need to do is put your wireless
card in promiscuous mode. It depends on your card how that should be done.
Another thing is: are you using Windows
(WinPcap) or another OS? If you are using Windows you need a patch to WinPcap
to recognize your card as a wireless card.

I am trying to capture
data on my wireless network using ethereal. For some reason I cannot capture
IEEE 802.11 protocol.
I can see UDP. I can
then decode this to view RTP information, this gives me alot of
information, however what I need to see in subtype info, as I am interested in
viewing RTS CTS and ack frames.
I have tryed to use
filtering but I get the probe filter error.
Any help would be much
