Ethereal-dev: [Ethereal-dev] Error compiling latest snapshot - GTK, again...

Note: This archive is from the project's previous web site, ethereal.com. This list is no longer active.

Running the command:
# ./configure --without-ucdsnmp --enable-gtk2=no

I'm getting:

./configure: syntax error near unexpected token `AM_PATH_GTK_2_0(2.0.0,'
./configure: ./configure: line 2364: ` AM_PATH_GTK_2_0(2.0.0, CFLAGS="$CFLAGS $GTK_CFLAGS", GTK_OK=no, gthread)'

Same thing when running with '...--disable-gtk2'.

I don't have GTK2 on this computer. It's RH 6.2 Linux.

After running autogen.sh, I still got:
checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** A new enough version of pkg-config was not found.
*** See http://pkgconfig.sourceforge.net
checking for pkg-config... (cached) no
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** A new enough version of pkg-config was not found.
*** See http://www.freedesktop.org/software/pkgconfig/
configure: error: GLib distribution not found.

My GTK and GLIB are 1.2.5

I tried to look in the ethereal-dev archives, but did not find an answer to this. I know it's been discussed, but I did not find a concrete solution.
