Note: most of us must first get a copy of the make-tapreg-dotc script in
order to compile Ethereal, as it wasn't in the patch that was sent out.

Sorry about that. I will provide a new patch tonight that includes this
file.
I have followed the other discussions on how to change the registration even
further. I would not have any objections if someone would later change the
tap registration thing for tethereal and ethereal to become
more like you discuss it.
I plan to add a similar registration routine with a similar API to register
to gtk/gtk2 ethereal as well with will also add the appropriate menu items
as well.
Feel free to change/enhance it as you wish.
