This patch is exactly what I was looking for.
Much cleaner than awking the output files.
I notice on sigint that it gives the summary.
I use tethereal to run on a gigE interface for an
hour, I have
already have your patch printing to STDERR, so I can
separate it from the normal COL_INFO output. What
would be nice is if sigusr1/2 could be used for
something like 1= dump current stats.
2=clear currentstats. If anyone has any ideas on
examples, I would be willing to go do the work, as
this is probably not something everyone would want.
Maybe Yet another option in the config to customize
the behavior of the USR1/2.
Just an idea, as then I would not neeed to stop my
long trace, to get statistics every so often.

Just an idea.
