Well, I meant ALL the dialogs, saving some stuff ;-) After looking at it again, this will be:

1. Edit/Preferences...
2. Edit/Capture Filters...
3. Edit/Display Filters...
4. Display/Colorize Display...

5. Edit/Protocols... is currently not saved at all. This would be another candidate for a new file.

Maybe it is better to do the implementation step by step, as this produces usually less bugs (at least when I'm doing it :-).

I think, this is a matter of personal opinion. I would agree to that, but others may not. 

Disadvantage: This would make it impossible to have two filters with the same name (but I think, this is not really a problem).

If we want to do it that way, we should put all the display filter files in a subdirectory maybe called "displayfilters" as this could be a lot of files and this would keep a better overview.

I'm not quite sure, if this be a huge change, keep in mind we should be able to read the "old file format" for backward compatibility.
