Hi,

Has anyone thought about adding E1/T1 interface support for ethereal.
>From previous searches on the subject, the question on E1/T1 capture
capability for ethereal seems to arise now and then.

So, assuming I can read the data from the card and have it in
suitable format for the ethereal's packet capture engine to parse,
is there any other *major* issues one would need to look at.

Also, most E1/T1 analyzers I have used before use (eg; T-BERD T1 Analyzer)
the "monitor port" available at or near the normal T1 connection
points (1TX and 1 RX). This does not involve *breaking" the T1 connection.

Also, to monitor both ways say for a T1 connection, I normally
need to monitor the "to" and "from" monitor ports to get both
way traffic.

ie: I use 2 monitor ports, one for TX and one for RX.

Also, the T1 interface device will not be present as
like "eth0" or "lo" etc , so is there a "raw" input mode
I can use.

Of course, the card I use will need to understand the myriad of
T1 or E1 parameters like CRC, ESF,AMI,B8ZS, NLP, etc..

Cheers / Frank..
