Hi
I want to create a new dissector for distributed simulation protocol
(DIS). If someone is working on the DIS protocol dissector, we may join
force.
Anyway, I am new to ethereal, and I would like to know if anyone has an
off-site document about what I need to know about the protocol to write a
dissector. Strictly speaking, I wonder if anyone has a HOW-TO for coding
a dissector.
Our goal is not just sniffing the DIS protocol, but also converting
captured DIS packets to another form of a protocol. Is it possible to
reuse some of the ethereal codes to create a packet conversion software?
The software will be listening to a port, capturing DIS packets, and
converting them to another packet form. Your comments are very welcome.
