Hello Guy

I have tried the same stress testing (as defined below ) with
tethereal 0.8.20, with GLib 1.2.6, with libpcap 0.4, with libz 1.1.3, with
UCD SNMP 4.1.2

but still tethereal exits abruptly after around 60-70 iterations.
i am presently trying the same with older tethereal (8.04) versions
i am re-attaching the tester.c and Set file for stress testing of tethereal
could someone try the same testing by using 150 iterations
regards
sameer

Hello all
I have been using tethereal Version 0.8.16 on Linux 2.2.14-12 for
capturing All SNMP Packets to a particular Destination IP Address.

This tethereal has the following version :-
tethereal 0.8.16, with libpcap 0.4, with libz 1.1.3 out SNMP.

I am presently facing 2 problems:-

1) It was noticed that as the number of SNMP Request to be captured by
tethreal increases over a period of time, tethereal under such a case
EXITS.
I have written a simple C Program (tester.c) that Will read from a File
"/tmp/Set" all the SNMP request to be sent and send these request one
after another continously. There are about 17 SNMP request to be sent .
The C Program Will ask the user to enter the number of times this set of
17 request is to be sent and accordignly iterate that many number of
times .
Note: For every iteration, 17 SNMP request will be sent .
It was discovered that after about 170 iterations tethereal exits
abruptly.

2)Another problem I encountered was the value printed for a snmpset
request involving HEXSTRING (ucd's snmpset) is a junk value.Although
this problem was not encountered in tethereal 0.8.9

The Command I have been using for tethereal is
tethereal -V -n dst port 161 and dst host 10.3.0.25

Could someone suggest something for solving the above 2 problems.
Is this problem noticed in the higher version as well.

I am attaching the tester.c and Set file.
Note For running tester.c .Copy Set file to the /tmp area and then
compile the file tester.c. Run the executable .
