Ethereal-dev: [Ethereal-dev] Mobile-Ip dissector changes
Note: This archive is from the project's previous web site, ethereal.com. This list is no longer active.

The Mobile-Ip dissector was crashing when a packet contained a Generalized Authentication Extension (see RFC 3012). Basically, the Gen. Auth Extension did not follow the other extensions, and hid it's length somewhere else. Which, of course, breaks lots of things. I added support for all of the extensions defined in RFC 3012, and added the names of some of the other extensions that are defined in RFCs 3115 and 2794. Since I didn't have any packet dumps for extensions, other than the Gen. Auth, I didn't bother trying to take them apart w/o being able to test. I also upgraded the flag parsing to look like the flags in the tcp dissector, and generalized the way extensions are dissected. (Since they're handled the same, whether in a request or a response, I moved that code into a function.) And finally, I created trees for each extension, so that they're displayed in a more readable (imho) form. No other dissectors were harmed in the upgrading of this dissector :) -Dave
