Hi,
Note, BTW, that it *does* work in Tethereal; you don't get to see the
list of all segments in the output for frames other than the one
containing the last segment, but reassembly *is* done and appears to
work.
Well, I guess there is no real reason why it would not work in tethereal.
However, and as I meant, these options can not (as far as I know) as well as
any other options be enabled from the tethereal command line.
I might be wrong?
The reason for separating the support into different options, one for each
protocol, instead of just one option controlled by TCP reassembly:
Well, the only reason I did that was because desegmentation of tcp traffic
might consume significant amounts of memory.
(the TCP thing will not consume much memory by itself, but every protocol
using it will)
By controling each protocol like RPC, NBSS (XoT?) separately it would
ease the memory requirements for people who only wants to desegment some
specific protocol.
I have no opinion really what would be best.
If you think it should just be controlled by the single TCP option,
please feel free to change it that way.
best regards
ronnie
