PACKAGE isn't used; I don't remember whether it was used once upon a
time, or not.

VERSION is used - but it's per-module, rather than applying to all
modules in a directory.

As such, I'd be inclined to have individual moduleinfo.h files - or not
to bother with moduleinfo.h at all, and just set the version string to a
constant.
