There has been some discussion of this on the tcpdump-workers list;
Carter Bullard from Qosient is looking at doing an Internet-Draft, I
think, for something RMON++ish (RMON could do some of it, at least,
although its filtering capabilities are a bit feeble), and the WinPcap
folks were also talking about this at one point.

I.e., I don't view that as an Ethereal feature so much as a general
mechanism that Ethereal *and* tcpdump *and* Etherape *and* snort *and*
so on could use.
