Currently (at least on my Win2K), when ethereal captures, it saves that data
into a file. This really slows things down (up to a point it is not useful
for me). Can it save it to a memory mapped file, or a buffer in memory
(perhaps add it as an option - the user will be able to configure the buffer
size before capture?).
I know memory mapped files stuff are not cross-platform, that might be a
problem, but memory buffer should work, imho.
