Hi,

I have looked at the PTV routines again, and I think that they, with some
extension could be what I am looking for with my dissector generator ...

For dissectors that have fields like UINT8, UINT16, etc, and other fixed
fields, the ptvcursor_add routine would do very well. You just assemble the
correct hf items, and everything would work ...

However, I also need some other routines ... like, for some protocols, I
need to keep looking until I find a space, but I also need to skip the next
byte if it is a space.

Would these routines be better as ptvcursor routines, or tvb routines?
