What network cards use network time units at all?

The time stamps from captures on UNIX-flavored OSes, at least, come from
the OS, not the card, for all the UNIXes I've dealt with (BSDs, Linux,
Solaris, Digital UNIX), and probably for most if not all others.

I have the impression that the same is true for Windows.
