I wanted to let everyone know my plans for the next release of Ethereal, which
will be version 0.7.0, which should happen soon. I believe it's safe to
release soon. I had wanted more protocol dissectors converted to the
new proto_tree implementation, but UDP is there, and enough of IP and TCP
are there that no one will lose functionality by switching from
ethereal 0.6.3 (pcap display filters) to 0.7.0 (ethereal display filters).
Things for me to do:
1. Put in a few more changes to the dfilter parser.
2. Write documentation for the display filter syntax for the manpage.
3. Add a proto_tree protocol variable for each protocol dissector.
I can't single-handedly add all the fields for each protocol dissector
in a short amount of time, but I'll put in a protocol item for each
dissector so that a user can at least filter on the existence of that
protocol in his trace.
This should be happening real soon. If there's anything else you want
in 0.7.0, be sure to speak up!
