The core difference would be that it would not create a pop up window but
just diplay in some area of the window. What really annoys me about these
startup tips is, that they force me to do an extra mousemovement and click.
Something like: "New in this version" and "New in last version" would be
much more acceptable if it was displayed just like the other information
on that welcome page.
Open recent should only display files that exist instead of displaying
"not found" after the name.

I don't feel quite that strongly about it, but I'm very much set against
it as well.
